In memory of Ken Donnellan

Darragh Christie, 13 January 2017 · # ·

Recently a former and long-standing colleague, Ken Donnellan, passed away.

Ken, who grew up in Neutral Bay and went to school at the local Marist Brothers, worked 20 years at Barry O’Keefe (Mosman) Library.

His death was sudden and our thoughts are with his family in their time of grief.

A few years ago, Ken moved his family to a house he had built in Gerringong. We remember his remarking on the large and elegant memorial hall that stands on the main road that runs through the small town.

In his new role at Kiama Library, Ken was working on a social history of the World War One soldiers listed on the Gerringong Soldiers Memorial Hall. He also organised talks and a scan-a-thon. Ken was respected by his colleagues and the community for his work collecting and sharing local history.

I’m sure Ken’s humour and no fuss work ethic will be missed by his colleagues at Kiama as it was by us here.

Ken, a final farewell.
Rest easy cobber.

Loved him dearly. So very sad for his family, friends and colleagues.
