Richard John Manning, Med. I : Gunner, 13th Battery, A.F.A., A.I.F., France. Enlisting gth May, 1916, and sailing 30th September with 117th Howitzer Battery, transferred when unit disbanded to reinforcements 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column and thence to battery. Was gunner at Bapaume, runner at Bullecourt and Ypres and signaller from December, 1917, till gassed at Ribemont 30th (sic) June, 1918, and sent to 72nd General Hospital, Trouville. On recovery rejoined battery, serving until demobilisation. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School and Barker College.
