Served as a Lieutenant with the 14th Battalion and was wounded at Gallipoli.  Transferred to the newly formed 46th Battalion and appointed Captain prior to the Battalion's deployment to France and Belgium.

Awarded the Military Cross and Mentioned in Despatches.

"The only son of Inspecting Superintendent William Robert Davidson of North Carlton. Educated at South Melbourne and King Street State Schools. A grain salesman. Joined the 46th Battalion.
