Killed in action by artillery fire on 25 September 1917 at Polygon Wood during the Battle of Menin Road. His body was never recovered.
He married Essie Fredellia Rees on 1 October 1916 at Bathurst and departed for service overseas on 3 November 1916. Essie remarried in March 1919 to Jabez Emanuel Cecil Carr and was living at Mosman at the time of Jabez's death in 1921.
The Commonwealth War Graves information for Alfred Reginald Clarke gives Essie's address as 9 Prince Albert Street, Mosman which is the address of Ernest Shoobridge Carr, her second husband's half-brother. [JSB]
