A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 15 October 1915. He embarked for England on 20 April and arrived on 16 June 1916.

On 18 January 1917, he joined the 49th Battalion then in a rest area at Bazentin, France. He was initially attached on 10 March, then on 10 November 1917 transferred to the 13th Light Trench Mortar Battery. He was wounded (scalp) in action on 26 January 1918 and after evacuation for treatment, he was back on duty a week later.

He embarked for Australia on 13 April 1919 and arrived on 12 June then was discharged from the AIF on 28 July 1919. [JSB]
