A tailor who enlisted in the AIF on 27 March 1916. He embarked for England on 4 September and arrived on 29 October 1916.
He joined the 36th Battalion at Houplines east of Armentieres, France on 10 March 1917. The Battalion was in the area of Messines, Belgium when he was wounded (shell shock) on 17 July 1917. He was initially evacuated for treatment in France and then evacuated to England on 4 December. He was diagnosed with neurasthenia and debility and it was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 15 April 1918 and arrived on 12 June then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 15 October 1918. [JSB]
