A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 15 February 1916. He embarked for England on 28 June and arrived on 25 August 1916.
He joined the 35th Battalion in France in November 1916. He fractured his right ankle accidently on 10 March 1917 and was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence. He rejoined the 35th on 23 August 1917.
He was evacuated to hospital in France on 12 October 1917 with myalgia and returned to his unit on 10 January 1918. He was wounded (left hand) in action at Villers-Bretonneux, France on 9 April 1918. He was initially evacuated for treatment in France then to England on 23 April for further treatment and convalescence.
He embarked for Australia on 4 January 1919 and arrived on 20 February then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 23 June 1919. [JSB]
