A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 15 September 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 20 December 1915.
He joined the 7th Australian Light Horse Regiment on 17 January 1916. As part of the reorganization of the AIF he was transferred to the 10th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) on 27 March 1916. His unit arrived at Marseille, France on 13 June 1916 and immediately moved to northern France.
He was evacuated to England in December 1916 suffering from trench feet. Following treatment, convalescence and retraining in England, he rejoined the 10th FAB on 29 June 1917.
He embarked for Australia on 1 May 1919 and arrived on 11 June then was discharged from the AIF on 3 August 1919. [JSB]
