A building contractor who enlisted in the AIF on 19 January 1916, aged 44 years. He embarked for England on 5 July and arrived on 31 August 1916.
He joined 9th Field Company Engineers in late November 1916. He was medically evacuated on 18 May 1917 to hospital in France and then to England where he was diagnosed with "fribrosis lung and effect of gas". It was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 25 November 1917 and arrived on 22 January 1918 then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 17 May 1918.
His wife Margaret Helen Lyons was the sister of William Edmond Lyons. [JSB]
