A theatrical manager who enlisted in the AIF on 21 August 1914. He embarked with the 9th Battalion for Egypt on 24 September 1914, transited at Melbourne for three weeks, and arrived on 6 December 1914.
He landed at Gallipoli with the battalion on 25 April 1915. He was wounded (right buttock) in action on 17 September and evacuated to Malta for treatment and then Egypt for convalescence. He developed a skin condition and it was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 11 April and arrived on 14 May 1916 then was discharged from the AIF on 11 October 1916. [JSB]
