An electrical mechanic who enlisted in the AIF on 22 March 1916 using the name Frederick Harriss instead of his birth name Frederick Gladstone Mackintosh. He embarked for Basra, Mesopotamia (now Iraq) via India on 22 August and arrived on 1 October.
He joined the 1st Australian Wireless Squadron in Bagdad.
He embarked for Australia at Basra on 26 February, returning via India, and arrived on 19 April then was discharged from the AIF on 11 August 1919. [JSB]
