A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 28 July 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 7 March 1916.
He was allotted to the 5th Pioneer Battalion on 17 April 1916. The Battalion arrived in Marseilles, France on 25 June and immediately moved to Steenbecque in northern France.
He was appointed a Driver on 7 July. His left shoulder was injured when he was struck by a mule on 22 August. This resulted in him being evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence. It was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 8 April 1917 and arrived on 4 June then was discharged from the AIF on 17 July 1917. [JSB]
