A grazier who enlisted in the AIF on 3 April 1916. He embarked for England on 25 November 1916 and arrived on 29 January 1917.
Following further training in England, he joined the 35th Battalion in northern France on 3 August 1917. He was wounded (right arm) in action by German artillery fire on 6 April 1918 at Villers-Bretonneux. He was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence.
He rejoined his battalion on 10 August 1918 as the 35th Battalion was in the third day of the Hundred Day Offensive and preparing to move into the front line at Proyart, France.
He embarked for Australia on 21 June and arrived on 16 August 1919 and then was discharged from the AIF on 23 September 1919. [JSB]
