A labourer who enlisted in the AIF on 2 July 1917. He embarked for Egypt on 8 October and arrived on 8 November 1915.
He was initially allotted to the 1st Battalion in January 1916 but was transferred to the 53rd Battalion on 14 February 1916. The 53rd landed at Marseilles, France on 28 June 1916 and then moved to northern France. On 16 January 1917 he was evacuated to England for treatment of pleurisy. Following his recover and convalescence, he had retraining before rejoining his unit on 1 July.
He was transferred to the 5th Machine Gun Battalion on 16 August 1917. He was wounded (abdomen) in action near Peronne, France on 2 September 1918 then evacuated to the 6th Australian Field Ambulance then to the 20th British Casualty Clearing Station at Heilly, France where died later that day.
