A bricklayer who enlisted in the AIF on 14 September 1915 and embarked for Egypt on 17 December 1915.
On 10 March 1916 he joined the 5th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) which moved soon after to France and arrived at Marseille on 25 March 1916. On 13 May 1916 he was transferred to the 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column as a driver. He was transferred back to the 5th FAB on 13 May 1917.
He embarked for Australia on 1 November 1919 and arrived on 15 December 1919 and then was discharged from the AIF on 14 February 1920.
