A station manager who enlisted in the AIF on 15 February 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 22 May 1915. There is a gap in his records as there are no entries between then and January 1916.
He carried out duties in Egypt and possibly Gallipoli with his unit, 16th Company, Australian Army Service Corps which was part of the 2nd Australian Divisional Train. Men from his unit served at Gallipoli from September to December 1915 supplying the 6th Brigade. He moved to France in late March 1916.
He rose through the ranks and was appointed Company Sergeant Major (Warrant Officer Class 2) in July 1917. He was subsequently promoted to Warrant Officer Class 1. He was awarded Mention in despatches.
He embarked for Australia on 31 May 1919 and arrived on 12 July 1919. He was initially discharged from the AIF on 9 September 1919 but this was cancelled in July 1920 as he was suffering from tuberculosis. He was again discharged on 14 May 1921 as medically unfit. He died on 8 January 1922. [JSB]
