A motor mechanic who joined the AIF on 23 October 1914. He embarked for Egypt with the Signal Troop of the 3rd Light Horse on 2 February 1915 and arrived in early March 1915.

His unit landed at Gallipoli on 21 May 1915. He was evacuated to Malta on 20 July 1915 suffering from enteritis and jaundice. He returned to Gallipoli on 10 September and remained there until the withdrawal in December 1915.

In April he was transferred to the 1st Anzac Signal Squadron, Anzac Mounted Division. He was discharged from the AIF at Cairo on 12 February 1917 to allow him to take up an appointment the next day as a Second Lieutentant in the Royal Flying Corps (RFC).

He was wounded in action while flying with the 60th Squadron, RFC on 24 April 1917 and died of his wounds on 1 May 1917 at the 3rd British General Hospital, Le Treport, France. [JSB]
