A motor mechanic who enlisted in the AIF on 18 February 1916. He embarked for England on 23 June 1916 and arrived on 21 August 1916.
After further training in England, he joined the 55th Battalion in France on 1 December 1916. In July 1917 he was reclassified as only fit for a permanent base (PB) posting. He joined the Anzac Section, 3rd Echelon, General Headquarters in Rouen. Immediately after the cessation of hostilities he was transferred to AIF Headquarters in London.
He embarked for Australia on 24 July 1919 and arrived on 30 September 1919. He was discharged from the AIF on 19 January 1920. [JSB]
