A land, estate and financial agent who enlisted in the AIF on 21 September 1915. He had served in the South African War with the New Zealand force. He embarked for England on 24 August 1916 and arrived on 11 October 1916.
After further training in England, including at the Officer Training School, he joined the 30th Battalion in France on 18 May 1917.
He was evacuated to England on 3 January 1918 suffering from myalgia. He embarked for Australia on 30 January 1918 suffering from lumbago and bronchitis, and arrived on 22 March 1918. His appointment in the AIF was terminated on 3 September 1918. [JSB]
