A clerk who enlisted in the AIF in September 1915. He departed from Sydney on 20 January 1920 as reinforcement for the 17th Battalion. While in Egypt he was transferred to the 13th Field Artillery Brigade.
He was wounded in action on 10 August 1918 in the vicinity of Harbonnieres to the east of Villers-Bretonneux, in the first stage of the 100 Days Offensive. Following treatment and convalescence in France he was transferred in January 1919 to the Army Pay Corps.
He embarked for Australia on 9 August 1919 and arrived at Sydney on 3 October 1919. He was discharged from the AIF on 25 November 1919. [JSB]
