A farmer who enlisted in the AIF on 19 October 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 20 December 1915 and arrived in early February 1916.

He was initially allotted to the 54th Battalion but in March 1916 he transferred to the 14th Field Artillery Brigade. He moved to France with his unit at the end of June 1916. Almost immediately, he was transferred to the 25th Field Artillery Brigade with which he remained until December 1916 when he was transferred to the same battery as his brother, Charles Gerald Carr-Boyd, in the 5th Artillery Brigade.

He was wounded in action on 24 April 1917 when a shell burst in his gun pit when his unit was at Noreuil, France. He subsequently died of his wounds at the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station at Grevillers, France. [JSB]
