A salesman who enlisted in the AIF on 3 January 1916. He embarked for England on 8 April and arrived on 21 June 1916.
He joined the 17th Battalion in Belgium on 24 September 1916. He was evacuated on 3 January to hospital initially in France and then England suffering from trench feet. Following treatment and convalescence he returned to France on 11 June 1917.
He rejoined the 17th Battalion on 25 June 1917. He was wounded (chest) in action on 14 April 1918 at Gentelles, France and evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence, It was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 23 September 1918 and arrived on then was discharged from the AIF on . [JSB]
