A bricklayer who enlisted in the AIF on 1 February 1916. He embarked for England on 11 May and arrived on 10 July 1917.

Following further training in England and France he joined the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column on 10 August 1917 then was transferred to the 8th Field Artillery Brigade on 7 September 1917. He was wounded (gassed) in action on 27 April 1918 and evacuated to hospital in France. Following treatment and convalescence he rejoined his unit on 30 July.

He embarked for Australia on 25 March 1919 and arrived on 10 May then was discharged from the AIF on 27 June 1919. [JSB]
