A saddler who enlisted in the AIF on 1 October 1914. He embarked for Egypt on 20 October 1914 with the 10th Company, Australian Army Service Corps (AASC).
He landed at Gallipoli in August 1915. He was evacuated to Egypt in September suffering from paratyphoid.
He embarked for Australia on 13 December 1915 for "3 months change" and arrived on 14 January 1916. He returned to duty on 28 March then embarked for England on 20 May arriving on 18 July 1916.
He resumed duty with 10th Company, AASC until December when he was allotted to the Artillery Corps. On 10 March 1917 he joined the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column in France then on 29 May 1917 he was transferred to the 7th Field Artillery Brigade at Ploegsteert, Belgium.
He embarked for Australia on 28 March 1919 and arrived on 8 May then was discharged from the AIF on 26 October 1919. [JSB]
