Born: 1 January 1881

A master cook who enlisted in the AIF on 7 May 1915. He had served with the British Royal Army Medical Corp between 1900 and 1912 including service in South Africa in 1901. He embarked for Egypt with the 3rd Australian General Hospital on 15 May 1915.

He served at Gallipoli and was evacuated on 25 November 1915 for treatment of eczema at Mudros, Greece and then England. There he was diagnosed as suffering from deafness which resulted in a decision for him to return to Australia.

He embarked on 17 March and arrived on 30 April then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 9 September 1916. [JSB]
