William Sydney Ballard

Biographical Summary:
A Senior Postal Assistant at Holbrook, NSW who enlisted in the AIF in September 1915. He embarked for Egypt in October 1915 and initially served with the 6th Australian Light Horse. He was transferred to the Australian Army Postal Corps with which he served in Egypt, England and France. He also served for a short time with the 1st Australian Division Signals Company.
He married Gladys Mitchell at Ealing, England on 23 August 1919. He departed for Australia on 8 October 1919 and arrived on 29 November 1919. He was discharged from the AIF in February 1920. [JSB]
