Biographical Summary:
Son of Edward Andrew Makeig and Sarah Ann Makeig, "Hurford", 284 Military Road, Neutral Bay. (Note: E. A. Makeig writes from "Hurford", 256 Military Road, in 1915. Letter in J. H. Makeig's service record.)
Walter Cleveland Makeig served with the Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division. Killed in action during the First Battle of Amman, Palestine, 27 to 30 March 1918. Buried Amman, re-interred in the Damascus Commonweath War Cemetery, Syria. [JSB]
