Biographical Summary:
A pastry cook who enlisted in the AIF on 19 April 1916. He embarked for England on 24 August and arrived on 11 October 1916.
He joined the 30th Battalion on 23 December 1916 at Montauban, France. He was wounded (gassed) in action on 24 April 1918 near Corbie, France and was evacuated to England for treatment and convalescence. He rejoined his unit on 17 October 1918 at Foucaucourt-Hors-Nesle, France where the Battalion was resting after being withdrawn from the front line for the last time.
He embarked for Australia on 17 July 1919 and arrived on 8 September then was discharged from the AIF on 23 October 1919. [JSB]
