Biographical Summary:
Wounded in action while serving with the 17th Battalion at Gallipoli in August 1915. Following treatment to the wound to his eye, he returned to Australia and was discharged in May 1916. He re-enlisted in April 1917 and served with the 4th Field Ambulance, in which his brother George was serving, from January 1918 until he was evacuated due to defective vision in March 1918. He returned to the Australia and was again discharged. He enlisted in the AIF for a third time in May 1919 for Special Service, and served on HMT Kursk which carried German deportees to Germany.
