Samuel Pavey

Biographical Summary:

Samuel Pavey enlisted in the AIF on 29 December 1914. He joined the 2nd Battalion at Gallipoli on 26 May 1915. He was evacuated to Lemnos, Greece on 9 July 1915 suffering from rheumatism. He was then transferred to Malta and then England. He continued to receive treatment for this and other medical conditions until May 1916 when he departed for Australia. He was discharged from the AIF at Sydney in January 1917.

Samuel Pavey’s connection with Mosman is through his marriage to Lalla Amelia Shelley in 1922. She was the cousin of Hector Harold Shelley and Walter Mansfield Shelley of Wunda Road, Mosman, whose names are on the Mosman War Memorial. Their father Rowland Mansfield Shelley was the brother of Lalla’s father, William John Shelley. [JSB]
