Biographical Summary:
An apprentice carpenter who enlisted in the AIF on 7 March 1916 aged 16 years and 6 months as Roy Henry Whitton. He stated that his age was 21 years and 1 month. He embarked for England on 5 August and arrived on 30 September 1916.
On 30 April 1917, he joined the 30th Battalion then in a rest area at Bancourt, France.
He embarked for Australia on 2 August 1919 and arrived on 22 September then was discharged from the AIF on 7 November 1919. [JSB]
