Biographical Summary:
A printer who enlisted in the AIF on 31 January 1916. He embarked for England on 5 July and arrived on 31 August 1916.
Following further training in England, he joined the 20th Battalion on 10 December 1916 while the battalion was out of the front line resting at Coisy north of Amiens, France.
He was wounded (head) in action on 3 October 1918 when Australian forces were attacking the German lines at Estrees north of St Quentin, France. He was evacuated to Rouen, France for treatment and convalescence. He returned to his unit on 25 October by which time it had seen its last action of the war.
He embarked for Australia on 5 June and arrived on 20 July then was discharged from the AIF on 4 September 1919. [JSB]
