Biographical Summary:

Enlisted aged 16 years and 9 months in August 1915 by understating his age by two years.  Initally allotted as a reinforcement for the 13th Battalion but, due to illness while in Egypt, his fitness level was permanently downgraded to Class B (not fit for active service).  He was then posted to the permanent establishment of the 14th Australian General Hospital at Abbassia, Cairo.  [JSB]
