Biographical Summary:
A stockman who enlisted in the AIF on 17 October 1916. He embarked with the 1st Australian Cavalry Division Signal Squadron for Mesopotamia on 9 May and arrived at Basrah on 25 June 1917.
The Squadron reached Bagdad on 10 July. The unit was absorbed into the 1st Australian Wireless Squadron on 23 May 1918.
He embarked at Basrah on 19 July 1918 for service in France. In transit, he was hospitalised in Italy in August and after treatment and convalescence eventually arrived at a holding unit in France on 12 November 1918. He was transferred to Headquarters, AIF Depots in the UK on 29 November. He was then transferred to the Australian Army Ordnance Corps Salvage Depot in London.
He married Jeanie Hannah Grimmer on 28 February 1920. At his request he was discharged from the AIF at London, England on 5 August 1920. [JSB]
