Biographical Summary:
A jackeroo who enlisted in the AIF on 1 November 1916. He embarked for England on 10 May and arrived on 20 July 1917.
Following further training in England, he joined the Y2A Medium Trench Mortar Battery on 11 December 1917 at Steenwerck, France. His unit was disbanded and merged into the 4th Australian Medium Trench Mortar Battery on 1 March 1918. He was severely wounded (side and back) in action at Heilly, France on 5 June 1918. After initial treatment in France he was evacuated to England for further treatment and convalescence.
He embarked for Australia on 8 November and arrived on 29 December 1918 then was discharged from the AIF on 12 April 1919. [JSB]
