Biographical Summary:
A road contractor who enlisted in the AIF on 5 March 1917. He embarked for England on 17 July 1918 and arrived on 27 September 1918.
He initially commenced training as a reinforcement for the 18th Battalion but soon after was training with the Engineers. On 2 February 1919 he joined the 9th Depot Unit of Supply in France. He returned to England in May 1919. He was given leave to undertake training in “motoring” from 15 July until 15 October 1919 but this was cancelled on 13 September for an unstated reason. He was charged with being absent without leave from then until 15 October and sentenced to 27 days detention.
He was due to embark for Australia on 12 March 1920 but failed to do so. He was sentenced to 27 days detention and then embarked on 17 April. He arrived on 21 June then was discharged from the AIF on 15 July 1920. [JSB]
