Biographical Summary:
A hairdresser who enlisted in the AIF in January 1916. At the time of enlistment his wife’s address was Lawson, NSW. She moved to Mosman later in 1916. He departed for England on 13 April 1916 and arrived on 7 June 1916.
Following further training in England, he joined the 19th Battalion on 24 February 1917. He was killed in action on 3 May 1917 at the Second Battle of Bullecourt when a combined Australian and British attack was made on the Hindenburg Line. That day his unit suffered very heavy casualties. Out of an assault strength of 550, there were 21 killed, 117 missing and 221 wounded. [JSB]
