Biographical Summary:
A clerk who enlisted in the AIF on 7 April 1916 and was discharged medically unfit on 9 May 1916. He enlisted for a second time on 26 March 1917, understating his true age of 48 by six years.
He embarked for England on 10 May and arrived on 20 July 1917. He was posted initially to the 12th Training Battalion as a reinforcement for the 45th Battalion, then in October to the 2nd Australian Command Depot, a convalescent holding unit.
He embarked for Australia on 5 November 1917 and arrived on 3 January 1918. He was discharged from the AIF medically unfit due to chronic bronchitis and rheumatism on 7 February 1918. [JSB]
