Biographical Summary:
A motor mechanic who enlisted in the AIF on 26 May 1916. He embarked with the 2nd Australian Flying Squadron, Australian Flying Corps (AFC) on 25 October and arrived on 28 December 1916.
Soon after his arrival he undertook training at Edinburgh, Scotland as an aircraft engine fitter and was transferred to the 3rd Squadron, AFC which was designated the 69th Squadron by the Royal Flying Corps.
He arrived at Le Havre, France on 25 August with the land based component of the Squadron. On 20 October, he was evacuated to hospital in France suffering from influenza then on 4 November he was evacuated to England for further treatment and convalescence. It was decided that he should return to Australia.
He embarked on 31 January 1918 and arrived on 15 April then was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 9 August 1918. [JSB]
