James Greig Anderson

Biographical Summary:
An engine driver and fitter who enlisted in the AIF at Melbourne in August 1914. He served with the 5th Battalion at its Advance Base at Lemnos and then at Gallipoli at the time of the withdrawal in December 1915. After returning to Egypt he then served for two months with the Camel Corps before being transferred to the 5th Division Ordnance Service. He rose quickly through the non-commissioned ranks to be a Sergeant in the 5th Battalion. After joining the 5th Division Ordinance Service he was promoted to Warrant Officer Class 1 in May 1916. He received his commission in April 1918.
He embarked for Australia in January 1920 and arrived at Sydney on 29 February 1920. His appointment was terminated in November 1920. [JSB]
