James Gibson Edie

Biographical Summary:
A farmer who enlisted in the AIF on 20 July 1916. He attended Officer Training School and was appointed a Second Lieutenant on 5 June 1917. He had served in the South African War between January 1901 and June 1902 as a Lieutenant in the 2nd NSW Mounted Rifles. He embarked for England on 19 December 1917 and arrived on 13 February 1918.
Following further training in England, he joined the 2nd Battalion in France on 18 September 1918 as the battalion was participating in its last major action of the war. Four days later it moved to a rest area and saw no further action.
He embarked for Australia on 8 September and arrived on 29 October 1919. His appointment in the AIF was terminated on 1 December 1919. [JSB]
