Biographical Summary:
A station overseer who enlisted in the AIF on 28 June 1916. He embarked for Egypt on 7 May and arrived on 20 June 1917.
He commenced training with the 2nd Light Horse Training Regiment in anticipation of joining the 2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment (ALH) but eventually became an instructor. He was transferred on 1 December 1917 to be an instructor on the staff of Headquarters, Australian and New Zealand Training Centre (ATC) at Moascar, Egypt.
He joined the 5th ALH on 16 February 1918. He was hospitalised on 20 June suffering from malaria and evacuated to Port Said for treatment and convalescence. He resumed duties in August 1918 and again joined the instructional staff at the ATC. He joined the 6th ALH on 21 February 1919.
He embarked for Australia 29 April 1919 and arrived on 11 June then was discharged from the AIF on 11 July 1919. [JSB]
