Biographical Summary:
A journalist who enlisted in the AIF on 14 September 1916. He embarked for England on 16 December 1916 and arrived on 18 February 1917.
Following further training in England, he joined the 59th Battalion on 30 June 1917 when it was in reserve at Rubempre, France. He was transferred to the headquarters of the 15th Infantry Brigade on 7 November 1917 where he remained until 10 July 1918 when he returned to the 59th Battalion. On 22 July he was sent to Officer Cadet Battalion. He was appointed a Second Lieutenant on 3 January 1919 and returned to the 59th Battalion.
In June 1919 he joined the Sports Section at AIF Headquarters and later that month went to Paris accompanying Australian athletes competing at the Inter Allied Games held at the Pershing Stadium, Paris in June- July 1919.
He embarked for Australia on 18 October and arrived on 28 November 1919. His commission in the AIF was terminated on 31 January 1920. [JSB]
