George Busby Piddington

Biographical Summary:

A CP Inspector with the NSW Department of Lands who enlisted in the AIF on 8 January 1917 understating his age by two years in order to be below the age limit of 45 years. He embarked for England on 7 February and arrived on 12 April 1917.

In June he joined the permanent staff of the 5th Training Battalion at Rollestone, Wiltshire where he remained until November 1918. He then joined the 17th Battalion, then in a rest area at Vignacourt, France, on 9 November 1918.

He embarked for Australia on 12 April 1919 and arrived on 6 June then was discharged from the AIF on 30 November 1919. [JSB]
