Biographical Summary:

A carter who enlisted in the AIF on 11 January 1916. He embarked for England on 29 July and arrived on 14 September 1916.

After further training and an extended period of sick leave, he joined the 6th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB) in France on 19 August 1917. He was wounded (left buttock) in action on 16 September 1917 when the 6th FAB was in the vicinity of Zillebeke, Belgium, a few kilometres to the east of Ypres. He was evacuated to England for treatment, convalescence and retraining prior to returning to his unit on 15 February 1918.

He embarked for Australia on 15 June 1919 and arrived on 2 August and was then discharged from the AIF on 17 September 1919. [JSB]
