Biographical Summary:
He joined the AIF in July 1917 at the age of 42. He was taken on the strength of the 18th Battalion in May 1918. He was severely wounded, with gunshot wounds to his head, shoulder and legs, during his battalion's attack on the German line near Joncourt, Aisne, on 3 October 1918. He was among the battalion's 112 casualties, out of its total strength of 262, on that day.
He was evacuated to the 12th Casualty Clearing Station before being sent on 6 October 1918 to the British 73rd General Hospital, Trouville, Calvados, where he died on 23 October 1918. [JSB]
