Biographical Summary:
A nurse who enlisted in the AIF on 12 June 1915. She departed for Egypt on 14 July 1915 with other Australian Army Nursing Service and Australian Army Medical Corps members who were to staff No 1 Australian Hospital Ship Karoola.
The Karoola arrived at Sydney on 7 December 1915 after leaving London on 18 October 1915. Prior to that it had travelled from Alexandria to England with wounded and sick soldiers.
The Karoola made another round trip and she returned to Egypt on 15 April 1916. She was then transferred to the Egyptian Hospital.
In late August 1916 she was transferred to the 1st Australian General Hospital in England in anticipation of her marriage to the then Captain Norman Maxwell Gibson of the Australian Army Medical Corps. She was discharged from the AIF on the same day as their marriage, 16 September 1916. [JSB]
