Died:
Biographical Summary:
Son of Joseph Clarke Anderson and Kissock Rae Anderson née McPhail of “Lake View”, Bergalia. Brother of Walter, Ethel, Elsie, David and Charlotte.
When Joseph Anderson died in 1896, Kissock Anderson took her family to Sydney. They were living in Randwick when David enlisted, but soon after moved to "Wanganui", 21 Holt Avenue, Mosman. Other family addresses in Mosman are listed in the service records, 24 Holt Avenue (15 August 1921) and 51 Spencer Road (1922).
Played with Glebe Football Club.
Served at Gallipoli from 4 November 1915. Promoted three times, attaining rank of sergeant. Killed in the Battle of Fromelles, perhaps in the German trenches, body not recovered.
Red Cross Wounded and Missing file suggests the family may have been told he was a prisoner of war, as one soldier states that Anderson's identity disc was among those sent over by the Germans.
