Biographical Summary:
A draughtsman who enlisted in the AIF on 31 May 1916. He embarked for England on 17 October and arrived on 9 January 1917.
Following further training in England, he joined the 1st Pioneer Battalion near Ypres, Belgium on 23 October. He was evacuated to hospital in France on 16 January and then was sent to England for treatment of trench fever. Following convalescence and further training he returned on 11 October 1918 to his unit which was out of the front line at Vauchelles-les-Quesnoy, outside Abbeville, France.
He embarked for Australia on 3 May and arrived on 22 June then was discharged from the AIF on 30 July 1919. [JSB]
