Biographical Summary:
A storeman who enlisted in the AIF on 26 April 1916. He embarked for England on 7 October 1916 and arrived on 21 November 1916.
After further training he joined the 53rd Battalion on 8 February 1917. He was wounded (left arm) in action on 29 March 1917 when the front line was heavily bombarded by German artillery. At the time the 53rd was in the Outpost Line opposite the Hindenburg Line near Louverval, France. After initial treatment in France he was evacuated to England for further treatment and convalescence.
He embarked for Australia on 20 December 1917 and arrived on 13 February 1918 then was discharged from the AIF on 12 August 1918. [JSB]
